1. What is personal information?
The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) defines "personal information" to mean information or an opinion (including information or an opinion forming part of a database), whether true or not, and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an individual whose identity is apparent or can be reasonably ascertained, from the information or opinion.
2. Collection of your Personal Information
2.1 We only collect personal information that is necessary for what we do. For example, when you order our products or services, we may need to have, amongst other things, your name, e-mail address, mailing address, credit card number and expiration date. This enables us to process your order and to notify you regarding its status (eg., that it is on its way, or if we are temporarily out of stock, etc). In addition, we limit the collection of highly sensitive information (eg., racial, ethnic origin, political opinions, etc) because, in general, such information is not necessary for what we do.
2.2 The personal information that we collect from you may include (but is not limited to) information relating to, or to facilitate a purpose in connection with:
(a) purchases of products/services over this web site;
(b) purchases of products/services from our outlets;
(c) technical support of our products/services;
(d) our suppliers or service providers;
(e) our employment or other engagement of you;
(f) marketing and promotional activities; and
(g) any other matters reasonably necessary to function as a seller and distributor of communication products and services.
2.3 As much as possible, we will collect your information directly from you. If we collect details about you from someone else, we will, whenever reasonably possible, make you aware that we have done this and why.
2.4 When you engage in certain activities, such as ordering products or services, entering a contest or promotion, filling out a survey or sending us feedback, we may ask you to provide certain information. It is completely optional for you to engage in these activities.
2.5 if you engage in these activities, we may ask that you provide us personal information, such as your first and last name, mailing address, email address, telephone and facsimile numbers, and other personal information. When ordering products or services, you may be asked to provide a credit card number or other banking information.
2.6 Depending upon the activity, some of the information we ask you to provide may be identified as mandatory or voluntary. If you do not provide the mandatory data with respect to a particular activity, or any other information we require in order for you will not be able to engage in that activity.
2.7 We may utilise "cookies" which enable us to monitor traffic patterns and to serve you more efficiently if you revisit the site. A cookie does not identify you personally but it does identify your computer. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie and this will provide you with an opportunity to either accept or reject it in each instance.
2.8 We may gather your IP address as part of our business activities and to assist with any operational difficulties or support issues with our services. This information does not identify you personally.
3. How we may use and disclose your information
3.1 We will only use or disclose your personal information for the primary purposes for which it was collected or as set out below.
3.2 We may also use or disclose your personal information and in doing so we are not required to seek your additional consent:-
(a) when it is disclosed or used for a purpose related to the primary purposes of collection detailed above and you would reasonably expect your personal information to be used or disclosed for such a purpose;
(b) if we reasonably believe that the use or disclosure is necessary to lessen or prevent a serious or imminent threat to an individual's life, health or safety or to lessen or prevent a threat to public health or safety;
(c) if we have reason to suspect that unlawful activity has been, or is, engaged in; or
if it is required or authorised by law.
3.3 In the event we propose to use or disclose such personal information other than for reasons in 3.1 and 3.2 above, we will first seek your consent prior to such disclosure or use.
3.4 You should note that personal information that you provide to us may be used by us and our related bodies corporate and affiliates, for marketing and promotional assessments and purposes.
3.5 If you consent, we might also pass your contact details to other companies whose products or services we feel you might like to know about.
3.7 You may ask to have the personal information on your account deleted or removed, however, we may keep track of past transactions for our accounting and audit requirements.
Furthermore, it may be impossible to completely delete your information because some information may remain as backups.
4. Data quality and security
4.1 We have taken steps to help ensure your personal information is safe. You will appreciate, however, that we cannot guarantee the security of all transmissions or personal information, especially where the internet is involved.
4.2 Notwithstanding the above, we will take all reasonable steps to:
(a) make sure that the personal information we collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete and up to date.
(b) Protect your personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure both physically and through computer security methods; and
